Economic Growth in our Country

15.5 million new private-sector jobs since early 2010, and the lowest unemployment rates in decades: That’s the improvement that Democrats produced under President Obama, and that’s the development we’re working every single day to preserve.
Democrats understand that our economy should strengthen our country and should operate for every American, not just those "at the top." We are dedicated to assisting all Americans to meet the challenges of the 21st century by encouraging job creation, repairing our infrastructure, investing in clean-energy technologies and small companies, and making sure corporations, the wealthy, and Wall Street pay their fair part.
When President Obama was elected in 2009, he acquired an economy in freefall, with massive debts, skyrocketing health care expenses, diminishing employment, and banking and housing markets on the brink of failure. Operating with the President, Democrats steadied the financial system, helped to stop a second Great Depression, and produced millions of new jobs.
Democrats lowered taxes for working families, provided guidance for small businesses and homeowners, and increased consumer protections. Despite Republican interference at almost every corner, Democrats granted relief for hardworking Americans who lost their jobs through no fault of their own.
Now we’re fighting to preserve that progress, and fighting to spread it to every American who has been left out. When Republicans decreased taxes for the wealthy but not for the middle class, or endanger our rehabilitation with terrible financial policies, Democrats will fight back.
We want to make sure that all Americans have the chance to succeed and that all working families can appreciate economic security. Democrats won’t be content until every American who craves to work can find work. By making debt-free college possible to all Americans, cracking down on companies that ship earnings and jobs overseas, striving for equal pay and paid leave, and guaranteeing the wealthiest citizens and largest corporations pay their fair part, Democrats will never stop working to build an economy operates for all.
